Problems with E.D.

Hi,  I’d like to introduce myself.  I’m a male in my  mid-50s who is having problems with E.D.  The problems  are the result of SSRI anti-depressants that I have  been taking for several years and will have to  continue to take indefinitely.  Unfortunately, due to  some other health problems, I cannot take Viagra,  Cialis or any of the pro-erection drugs.    The E.D. problem has recently gotten much worse  because I have had to increase the dosage of the  anti-depressants.  So I now am starting to consider a  pump, injection or MUSE–but definitely not a penile  implant.  Even the MUSE seems too dreadful to try.  But what about the injections?  Does it not hurt to  stick a needle into the penis?  How expensive is the  injectible medication?  Is it easier to administer  than the mechanics of the  pump?    Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi, I have been on injection therapy since 1992 using TRIMIX after going to Boston Univ. to have Dr. Irwin Goldstein treat me. Found one of his several books on the ED therapies available in 1992 before viaga.

Thought I had artery problems but it was diagnosed as age related ED. My nerves essential for the erection sequence of events was not providing the good signals it used to and the erections were short duration and not as firm.

I wrote and got an appointment. First visit I got a sample injection and it felt like a pin prick in the side of the penis but not severe as I’d expected. He gave me more than needed because he had to guess what might be enough to ensure a firm erection. After 4 hours I got the injection to bring it down and in minutes it was normal.

After getting injection technique worked out and the correct dosage figured out, it was fantastic. Took 3 visits from upstate NY to Boston but it was worth it to have an erection so firm I could hang a towel on it.

Since then viagra happened and I tried it. TRIMIX is superior in lots of ways. I participated in a topically applied MUSE like product evaluation for a pharmaceutical company. My erection was very poor and on the way home my eyes started buring so bad I had to get off the road and wash out my eyes several times. After 4-6 hours I was OK but figure it was MUSE like which in merely prostoglandin E plus a carrier to get it thru the skin, I don’t want anything to do with Caverject which is also just PGE.

The bimix works for some but usually trimix even works for people that had pain using caverject.

Now at 74 it still works great and the wife has found she likes it too. The wife felt she was in charge of inspiring all erections. Initially she felt like she had lost something. Now even though she doesn’t want to watch me inject, she wants to cuddle immediately after while things develope.

You will have to ask the urologist if he/she offers injection therapy and then ask if it is TRIMIX. IT may take some traveling to find one but worth the trip.

I was told afterward I had to visit once a year to keep getting my prescription once a year. That made it very expensive. So called Franck’s Compounding Pharmacy. He told me to have my GP call and he would verify his being a doctor and give him instructions on how to write the prescription for TRIMIX. Worked out to cost me only $110 for a vial 10ml.

Technique is essential to have reliable injections. Try this.

Tease the penis till some blood flows in, then squeeze it toward the end and hold it tight while you inject in the normal erect diameter injection site. Bury the needle all the way in so you are thru the wall of the cavity and unload the syringe.

When the penis is flacid, you have a hard time stopping the needle in just the right place where the walls are against each other. Frequently there is a nodule in the wall instead and it may not be a good result.

Try injection therapy and if it doesn’t work for you, you can do anything else to compare the results.

Right about the ease of the injection. I remember when
Caverject was new. That hurt. Forget that. I remember when Caverject
went to the skinny needle, like Trimix. I almost didn’t feel it some
times. It only stings a bit from the interaction of tne medicine with
the tissue. (Caverject) That’s it going to work.

I found that I’d only get those bumps and skin burns from when I shook
too much with the needle inside me. It’s important to stay steady once
you put it in. I also had more trouble from being black. Not much
contrast to see arteries by. I learned to use a about thirty seconds of
pushing blood around my shaft to make them rise up.
